Not much to shout about this weekend.
Typical Friday night in the Lib, but Andy left early claiming to be starving. I thought he might be picking up a take-a-way; Indian or Chinese But no His misses is in bed, so the tiger had a bowl of Frosty's.
Early start, No breakfast, straight to Coombe Lake and a long walk. This is a very fickle bream fishery. Andy and I fished ground bait feeder tactics on a quiver tipped Rod. Chopped worm, caster and corn in the cage feeder. No indications in the first hour of fish feeding but Andy struck lucky at 8.20, his tip arched round and a nice slab (bream) of 6lb was safely netted. At 8.30 my tip arched round, I had a slab of the same size. The next few hours were hard going with only roach and skimmers showing. With our big umbrellas for protection we sat in persistent rain all day.
My next Bream came at 13.15 slightly bigger just over 7lb. Andy trying a juicy worm on the hook struck into a 7lb Bream at 13.30.
Two Bream each and a few bits. Four anglers above us didn't see any Bream but conditions were totally wrong for this water as it was Flat Calm, not even a ripple, Mirror flat never any good for Bream fishing and Coombe is notoriously fickle in these conditions. A most enjoyable day despite being hard.
Sunday's match on the river Avon was switched to Dordon Pool on Friday night – switched back again to the Avon on Saturday Night. David Mallabone won this one with 12lb – consisting of Eels, Bream and Roach. Andy and I opted out of this match and headed back to Coombe again. Conditions were not favourable, I dry netted. Andy had 1 Bream and 1 skimmer. After being bite less for over 5 hours, we retired to the Lib at 12.30 for a Liquid Lunch.

Coombe pool has a large population of bream usually between 6lbs and 8lbs, the bream are commonly found in large shoals which can provide anglers with a great days
fishing. Locating these shoals is a challenge because of the size of the water accurate casting is also a must at Coombe. Casting can be made easier by using the bait clip on your reel. Only £35.00 is price for a season ticket plus £5.00 deposit for key to the Lindley bank.
Me and a few mates gave it go June the 16th we fished the Lindley bank. I fished peg 28 put 10 balls of ground bait in at the start about 50 yards .fished feeder 2 foot tail size 20 hook worm & dead reds a bit of a slow start but finished with 86lb of bream. Joe Elton my dad took 75lb of bream. Andy green took 45lb of bream after talking to himself saying come on tip go round it works try it. June 24 on the Lindley Andy green had a better day on peg 12 taking 22 bream for 125lb a big grin on is face when I only had 10 bream for 60lb could I shut him up NO. Mick grant been catching on the worm over 100lb bags. Mick had 24 bream for 140lb off peg 12 and off peg 40 100lb plus.
