Friday night was spent in the Big Room at the Lib, Reminiscing our youth with tribute band The Beatlegs. All the normal Friday night crowd were in their usual seats in the bar. Andy and I decided to fish Five ways open match on Saturday after dancing the night away.
Into the café early Saturday morning for a healthy greasy- fry up. Good job we were early as a Yorkshire club were on Makins Fishery and had called in for breakfast.
Free tea's were being handed out on arrival at Five ways. 24 taking part in the completion. I drew peg no. 24 Andy drew Peg 50, opposite sides of the lake. I had Richard Grant and Eddie Sharrod either side of me. I started tight across on a Bomb and worm. Feeding carp worm and caster at 11 metes. Cat meat and corn in the margins.
Richard Grant was into carp from the whistle using paste as hook bait. But it was a struggle for most competitors.
3 small bream, a few perch and a mini carp for 5lb 10oz was all I could pull together. Andy didn't fair much better using similar tactics to myself.
The paste anglers out fished everyone else with two 64lb weights and a 47lb to take the podium finishes.
The Bedworth Police A.C. match was booked on Spring Pools at Newton on the A5 outside of Rugby.
Peg 3 was Andy's draw for the day, I was on peg 8.
Cat meat at 11 metres, corn and pellets down the margins as per normal for this water. But a slow day was in prospect. This is normally a prolific water but most anglers were struggling.
I finished with 7 carp for 15lb. Andy had a carp and a few roach.
Results;
1 st Dave Mallabone 32lb
2 nd Paul Lathbury 29lb
3 rd Adam Mallabone 24lb.

Woke up early to a glorious day with brilliant sunshine and no wind.
Andy arrives promptly at 07:30 the Greasy Spoon was busy for the time of day, but a read of the papers and a Hearty Breakfast we were ready for the days pleasures after calling for our bait.
Today we're fishing Parkers open Match on the new match water at Arbury farm, Andy drew peg 10, I was on No27.
A steady days fishing was the order of the day and a real learning curve to us both.
I finished 10lb 2oz; Andy weighed 10lb 6oz,
27lb, 26lb and 18lb was needed for a framing place.
Sunday 12-8-07
Today's match is the graham Jordan Memorial Pairs for members of Bedworth Police AC at spring pool's Newton
My partner was Fred Lawrence Andy's partner for the match was club match secretary Clive Raider Harrison.
Cat meat in the margins and at 11 metres was my tactics on this fishery Andy fed cat meat but had not a bite, but switching to dead red maggot and worms brought 20 lb 6 oz to the scales I had most of my fish on cat meat down the margin under a bush for 28lb 10oz Fred weighed 24lb 7oz; raider caught 7lb 14oz; so Fred and I totalled 53lb 1oz to win the trophy final result Simon frost 40lb 40z big Sam 28lb 10oz Fred Lawrence 24lb 7oz
